The Freestyle Way to See Sorsogon
For the independent traveler, Sorsogon’s public transit system offers an authentic and budget-friendly way to explore the province. While private rentals offer convenience, the local network of modernized jeepneys and tricycles allows you to travel like a local. Navigating the city and its 15 municipalities starts with understanding our two primary “Base Camps.”
Major Transit Hubs
Public transport in the city is anchored by two primary terminal facilities.
SITEX (Sorsogon Integrated Terminal Exchange)
The Gateway to the Bicol Region
Located in Barangay Balogo, SITEX is a state-of-the-art, multi-modal facility. It represents a strategic partnership between the City Government and SM Prime Holdings Inc., managed professionally by Park Solutions Inc..
- Service Scope: This is your primary hub for long-distance travel, including inter-regional, inter-provincial, and inter-municipality routes.
- Operational Goal: SITEX was established to systematize the loading, unloading, and parking of public utility vehicles (PUVs) to reduce traffic congestion within the city center.
- Traveler’s Use: Head here if you are traveling to or from Legazpi City, the Visayas via Matnog, or other major towns like Donsol and Bulan.
SCTT (Sorsogon City Tricycle Terminal)
The Local District Connector
Located in Barangay Sulucan, the SCTT is the central nervous system for localized city travel. It is essential for travelers looking to move within the city’s immediate districts or reach the northern coast.
- Tricycle Operations: The terminal holds units plying the East and West Districts.
- The Bacon Connection: This is a vital hub for reaching the Bacon District. It hosts three specific jeepney routes dedicated to Bacon routes.
- Jeepney Pick-up Station: Beyond tricycles, SCTT serves as the official pick-up station for Jeepneys en route to the Bacon District.
- Traveler’s Use: Head here for shorter trips to local city hotels, city-center landmarks, or to catch a ride to the beaches and heritage sites in Bacon.

The “Bacon Connection”
If you are heading to the northern beaches or heritage sites in the Bacon District, the SCTT in Brgy. Sulucan is your primary launchpad.
- Jeepney Hub: This is the official pick-up station for Jeepneys en route to Bacon.
- Dedicated jeepneys: The terminal hosts three specific jeepney routes that specialize in routes plying the Bacon District.
Modernized Utility Jeepneys (MUJ)
For the best experience, look for Modernized Utility Jeepneys (MUJ). These are the “Class 2” air-conditioned units currently being rolled out across the city.
- Comfort: These units offer more spacious seating and climate control, making them ideal for longer trips to SITEX or neighboring towns.
- Key Route: Look for the Loop Service which utilizes the city’s coastal and diversion roads for a scenic and faster commute.
Understanding Tricycles
Tricycles are the “last-mile” solution for any freestyle vacation.
- The Color-Coding Rule: Sorsogon City uses a strict color-coding scheme to identify which tricycles are permitted for specific routes. While you don’t need to memorize the colors, it ensures that the driver taking you is officially registered for that zone.
- SCTT Dispatch: For the safest experience and standardized rates, always board at the SCTT terminal rather than hailing a random unit on the street for long-distance “special” trips.
Traveler’s Cheat Sheet
- Arriving by Bus? You will land at SITEX. From there, take a local jeepney to reach other towns and tricycle to reach the city center or SCTT.
- Going to the Beach? Head to SCTT and look for the Bacon-bound jeepneys or Gubat-bound jeepneys.
- Heading to Legazpi? Go to SITEX for the most frequent inter-provincial departures.
